Start FCA in Your School

WHAT IS MINISTRY?

Be yourself, make it fun and be open to new relationships. FCA is about inviting those seeking into a group where Jesus is the primary topic.

When you start an FCA Huddle, you and those who help you are starting your own personal ministry.  You will have chosen to use sports as a means to reach your school with the gospel.  FCA is only the tool.  You and your team are the ones who make it all happen.  FCA makes it easy with pre-written study material, occassional guest speakers for campus events, outreach ideas and lots of support.

What could be more important than living out your passion for sports and Jesus right in your own school.  Other's may make decisions for Christ along the way.

WHAT IS THE WIN?

Since 1966, the FCA Ministry has been present on campuses all across the country. The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on junior high, high school and college campuses. The purpose of campus ministry, through various types, has been to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost and to seek to grow and mature a follower of Jesus Christ.

The “win” of Campus Ministry is to see campuses impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

The huddle meeting outline consists of four parts: Welcome, Warm-Up, Workout, Wrap-Up.

  • Welcome:  greeting and announcements

  • Warm-Up:  ice-breakers, games, skits, etc.

  • Workout:  bible studies, devotionals, testimonials (spiritual growth component)

  • Wrap-Up: closing comments

HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR HUDDLE

  • Create flyers, posters, announcements, etc to promote upcoming huddle meetings, activities, and events.

  • Distribute promotional material all over campus.

  • Use various media to invite people: text, Social Media, email, etc.

MINISTRY FUNDAMENTALS

Ministry Fundamentals: Share, Seek, Lead, and Love

  • Share Him Boldly (Acts 5:42) – FCA shares Jesus with those who do not have a personal relationship with Him.  We believe that salvation is only found in Jesus, and with great passion we desire to share the Gospel with the world. (Evangelism Focus)

  • Seek Him Passionately (Acts 17:11) – FCA equips and encourages others to seek Him daily. A life-long pursuit of knowing and loving Jesus takes perseverance and discipline. (Discipleship Focus)

  • Lead Others Faithfully (1 Corinthians 14:12) – FCA desires to model Jesus’ example of serving by seeking out the needs of others, developing trusting relationships and caring about the individuals we serve. (Outreach Focus)

  • Love Others Unconditionally (1 Peter 4:11) – FCA realizes that the most powerful force in the world is love. We desire to be obedient to the Lord as He said that we would be known by our love. (Fellowship Focus)

KEY TEAMMATES

Any successful and sustainable club on a school campus has a strong support system made up of key people filling key roles.

The first rule ...don't try to do it alone!

Find other athletes who want to help you lead the club at school.

We are a fellowship of coaches AND athletes.  Try to find one or more coaches to serve as the school advisor for your club, you are well on your way.

You will want you pastor or youth pastor to know what you are doing and add you to the prayer list, host your huddle at the church for planning events and allow you to give club updates to the church.

Parents should be involved to volunteer at club events and to facilitate opportunities for the FCA club to meet and have fun fellowship off of campus.

Contact the FCA staff member to serve as a mentor to learn how to have the most impact on your school campus.
